Let's have a party!  Not just any party--a Pooch Party! Our dogs are a big part of our family.  Why not host a Halloween party for them and some of their four-legged friends!

First thing is to find a Halloween costume for your dog. There are a million ideas to choose from for just about anything your doggo wants to be.  One of our clients is dressing up as a pirate. Another client will be disguised as Kevin, one of the minions. Whatever your dog chooses, be sure to shop around several of the pet stores and online to find the best prices. Or, if you have time and the inclination, there's always DIY.

A Halloween Pooch Party doesn't just happen.  There is a lot of planning that must go on to make it the perfect party. First, you must set the date.  Second, plan the guest list.  Think about the pup friends you are inviting--make sure they all get along.  It's best to keep the number small so you can maintain peace among the troops.  The invitations should be about a Halloween Pooch Party and should be in line with the theme-based decorations and game prizes.  The invitations should be addressed to each dog and show the date, time of the party and location.  The party can be at your house if you have the space and the yard is properly fenced.  If that doesn't work, check with nearby dog parks or doggy day care places.  They would love to be the place for your party--it means more customers for them.

This is a Halloween Pooch Party.  Your decorations and game prizes should fit the theme. A few dog game ideas are Hide and Seek, or Obstacle Course, or the Muffin Tin Game.  In the Muffin Tin Game, use an old muffin tin and put some smelly treats in some of the holes, not all of the holes.  Fill all the holes with a ball or some other toy.  Let the dog figure out how to get the toy out and get to the treat. Always popular is the dog/owner lookalike contest.  Some dogs are food aggressive, so check with the owners before playing games that involve treats.  And remember different dogs like different games.  So if any of the games aren't for your dog, that's cool!

Snacks are a must have. Visit local Dog Bakeries to see what is available.  Or, again, there's always DIY.  There are lots of simple recipes for cookies.  We've seen bone-shaped cookie cutters for making bone-shaped cookies.  Then decorate them with black cats and bats.  Or, make a dog cake and decorate it with ghosts and goblins.  Remember, some dogs may be food aggressive, so check with the owners before offering snacks.

There you have it, our tips for the perfect Halloween Pooch Party. Follow these tips and your party will be a pawsome success!

Fun Things To Do With Your Dog This Fall

The weather outside is getting crisp and cool and it's time to play!  Your dog has spent the dog days of summer either inside all the time, or outside only during early morning and late evening.  Now that the seasons are changing, there are many fall activities to enjoy with your furry friend.

Hiking

There are many areas that offer challenging and safe dog-friendly hiking trails.  A few locations across the country are Grand Canyon National Park and the Slide Rock State Park in Arizona; Runyon Canyon Park in Los Angeles, California; the Gatlinburg Trail and the Oconaluftee River Trail in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee; the Sequoyah State Park near Fort Gibson Lake in Wagoner County, Oklahoma; Walnut Creek Park in Austin, Texas; and Seven Falls in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where getting to the hiking trails presents unique hiking challenges!

Check with nearby national forests and state parks for more dog friendly hiking trail options.  Be prepared with supplies, first aid, and common sense, so you and your dog will have a great hiking adventure.

Leaf Pile Diving

Whether you are raking autumn leaves in your backyard, or visiting a park, piling up the leaves for your dog is a really fun game. Hide balls or chew-toys in the pile and let your dog dive in!  Leaves with be flying and your dog will have a blast!  Make sure there are only leaves in the pile--running into a sharp stick would not be fun. Look at these dogs racing around in the leaves!  Now, we ask you, do they look like they are having fun?

Matching Halloween Costumes

Halloween is one of the fall season holidays.  Going shopping for, or make your own, matching Halloween costumes for you and your furry friend can be a great fall activity.  After you find the perfect Halloween disguise, go trick-or-treating together.  Or, answer your door when other trick-or-treaters knock wearing your matching Halloween costumes. Please make sure your dog does not get into the candy and please follow these Halloween Safety Tips to keep your pet safe.

So, go outside with your dog!  Post a comment below to let us know what fall activities you are sharing with your dog.
